Despacito the song of Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It was the top one streamed music at that period within the space of six months. It was a blend of reggaeton and pop that attracted attention to Latin Music but also reggaeton. In 2015 there were only two mostly songs with Spanish lyrics on the Billboard Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. In the height of Despacito's popularity in 2017, 19 tracks primarily in Spanish reached the top 100. This number rose to 41 by 2020. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish version in 2017. In the year following, the most well-known artists began collaborating with reggaeton acts. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny for the production of MIA (2018), while Madonna worked on Medellin together with Maluma (2019). In the year 2020, a handful of reggaeton performers were lamenting the genre's direction toward the mainstream. However, a younger generation namely Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep reggaeton evolving. The genre often incorporated electronic dance as well as different types.
